Good afternoon, Below are the updates in regards to our beat priorities and what we have been doing to achieve them. Addressing Anti-Social Behaviour in Open Spaces Targeted patrols in identified ASB hotspots: Officers have carried out high‑visibility and plain‑clothes patrols in locations where ASB has been repeatedly reported. These patrols are designed to deter offending, reassure the public, and allow officers to respond quickly to any incidents as they occur. Engagement with residents and young people: The team has spent time speaking with local residents, business owners and young people to better understand the issues affecting them. This includes door‑to‑door engagement, attending community meetings, and working with youth groups to gather insight, build trust, and encourage the reporting of concerns. Partnership work to tackle repeat problem areas: We have been collaborating closely with local councils, housing providers, outreach workers, and community organisations to put sustainable solutions in place. This has included environmental improvements, tenancy interventions, increased youth provision, and joint visits to addresses linked to recurring ASB. Preventing Burglary and Retail Theft Working Closely with Local Businesses: We continue to support retailers by offering tailored crime‑prevention advice and reviewing CCTV opportunities to identify suspects or patterns of offending. Officers have been visiting businesses to help staff recognise suspicious behaviour, strengthen store layouts to reduce theft opportunities, and report incidents promptly. This partnership approach aims to protect staff, stock and customers. Crime Prevention Advice for Residents: The team has been sharing practical guidance with residents to help prevent burglaries. This includes advice on securing windows and doors, ensuring valuables are not left on display, and using simple deterrents such as lighting timers, doorbell cameras, and alarm systems. We are also encouraging communities to remain vigilant and report any unusual activity in their neighbourhoods. Identifying and Managing Repeat Offenders: Working alongside partner agencies, officers are monitoring known suspects and individuals linked to multiple offences. Where necessary, the team is taking proportionate enforcement action, ranging from issuing warnings and conducting proactive visits to pursuing criminal charges. This targeted approach helps to disrupt persistent offending and protect vulnerable locations. Safer Nights Out for Women Working With Licensed Premises We continue to engage with venue staff, security teams, and licensees to support safe and responsible operations. This includes offering guidance on managing vulnerable individuals, identifying potential drink‑spiking risks, reviewing CCTV opportunities, and ensuring venues have robust procedures in place for dealing with disorder. Joint visits with council licensing officers have helped reinforce best practice and address any concerns early. Safety Advice for the Public: Officers have been sharing practical safety guidance with those heading out for the night. This includes advice on planning safe travel home, sticking with friends, looking out for one another, and reporting concerns to venue staff or officers at the earliest opportunity. We are also promoting the use of designated safe spaces and local support services available to anyone who feels unwell, unsafe, or vulnerable. Take care, Joe Culverwell PS 661 |
